Film Production Date: Probably before 2010
Film is in: Color
Setting: Rural, at most suburbian. Probably before 1950,
maybe even much earlier (like 1880s).
Actresses: MAYBE Nicole Kidman or Charlize Theron
The movie, of which I have only seen a part up to the end, IIRC,
seems to revolve around at least one main character, a young
well-dressed lady (in white lace, including a white hat, IIRC, maybe
like in “Cold Mountain”:

I tend to believe it was either Nicole Kidman or Charlize Theron.
The scenes I can remember:
- Noticeably trembling Shakers in a church or meeting hall, pastor(?) speaks to them and addresses them as “my trembling/shaking brothers” or something similar. When watching this scene, I had to laugh.
- The female protagonist sits in some kind of cafe (and I think has a cup of tea or coffee). I also believe to remember that she gets approached there by a male admirer(?).
- The female protagonist enters a bedroom in the top floor of the (her family’s?) house where a bedridden old lady is lying. I *think* she was some kind of nagging mom/grandma/shrew.
- At the end of the movie, the female protagonist leaves the house by either carriage or maybe even by an (antique type of) automobile.
The only movie starring Nicole Kidman (bear in mind I’m not sure if it was her) roughly matching the setting was “Cold Mountain”, but I cannot remember anything war related in the movie in question. But that might be just due to my goldfish brain. :-}
Any hints appreciated!
(I tried to identify a few movies from the last 1.5 months of posts, but the only only one I could solve was already solved. Hope to be of help some time in the future. 🙂
