I remember watching the movie anytime before 2002. The movie was in english. I was very young, pretended to be asleep, but I was actually watching the TV screen. It doubt it would be a show since the duration was very long. I remember watching it in color (90’s quality).
What I vaguely remember:
-The mother was out of the picture, she had been murdered or missing.
-The movie followed the daughter, who is caucasian, throughout the case.
-She might have been in the care of an uncle (I don’t recall), but he lived near a cabin where it was snowing.
I remember specifically:
- that she fell into a ditch (it was snowing) and found skeleton remains, believing she had found her mom’s body.
- When she was put on the witness stand in court, she rubbed something under her eyes and was fake crying.
Well, this doesn’t exactly match, but it’s got a lot of similarities so I’ll mention it: A Simple Twist of Fate. There’s a girl (with a dead mother) in the care of a single man, a cabin with snow, and she rubs something in her eyes to fake cry at a custody hearing. It’s based on Silas Marner.
