Kidnapped to space for IQ test

An old black and white movie, with English accents.

A house wife, a street cop and a scientist (possibly others) vanish from the earth and wake up in a space ship. They have to solve a puzzle to open a door. The scientist, our hero,  suggests that it is some kind of IQ test to weed out species that are not intelligent enough to enter the rest of the space ship. I did not see the rest of the film.

I did not speak English when I first saw this movie (when I was little, 30 years ago, in Belgium) and those scenes have been waiting for closure in my memory all this time.

The first IQ test is a hand held box thing with a protruding bit.

It was a well scored, low budget, mid-day movie.

That’s all I remember.

Thank you for your time.

  1. “Daleks:Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.”(1966)?

This movie has the cop and other people you mention as well as the i.q. test. It’s in color but I haven’t seen the Doctor Who television serial it’s based on but it was in black and white. Here is a trailer for the color film version.

  2. Doctor Who is the scientist. When he and the others are prisoners on the Daleks spaceship, he figures out how to open a magnetic door with a plastic comb, but realizes it’s a way for the Daleks to determine which humans can be turned into robo-men.
