survival murder mystery, death by wrist rocket slingshot

I don’t think this was a great movie or anything like that, I just remember the scene where the guy is trying to avoid being killed by a bad guy. Like he’s in the desert , in a hole or in a wash , and his only weapon is a wrist rocket slingshot and when the bad guy looks over the edge down at him , he is killed by the slingshot. Then for some reason the guy has to hide the slingshot from the sheriff who is snooping around. The sheriff thinks it’s a gunshot. I remember he solves the case at a gas station , and with a long pole they reach down into the gas Reservoir underground and pull out the wrist rocket where it was stashed by the shooter. Probably the 70s, American, color . Could being a made-for-tv movie. I don’t believe it was just a television detective show. But I don’t know for sure. Good luck and thanks for helping.

  1. “Savages”(1974 TV Movie)

From wiki….’As the police can’t find the slingshot, they have to go with Madec’s story. However, right as Madec is preparing to leave town and filling up with gasoline, there is something lodged in the pump. Ben unclogs it by putting a pole into the underground tank and unearthing the slingshot which Madec had earlier put there and hidden from the police.’

    1. Wow that’s it! How funny, it’s a little different than I remembered it. I would have never remembered Andy Griffith was in it. I love to seeing the Coleman lantern and the Coleman stove in that scene. I reminisced with about 10 minutes of the movie, looks pretty bad huh? Haha. Funny how some of those scenes will stick with you for a long long time. Thank you so much. Solved!

      1. You’re welcome! I found that movie for someone else last year, they had the same scene stuck in their head too! Glad I could help!
