Sometimes I am ready to believe in crazy theories about slightly different parallel worlds between which people move from time to time without realizing it. Sometimes it is impossible to find a film that simply has to be easy to find because of very characteristic and original plot details.
This movie is probably American and was filmed in the 90s.
The plot is as follows:
A boy is given a VR gaming headset by his parents. It seems it was made in Japan.
The peculiarity of this gaming device: you could integrate elements of the real world into the game reality by scanning their photos into the game. He took photos of his street (the area near his house) and maybe of his friends to make them the location and the characters of the game respectively. He also based the main villain of this game on his father. He apparently had a bad relationship with this father (or maybe stepfather). It seems he lost awareness of the line between the game and reality and hurt his father in reality.
Here is a Russian describing this film:

And here some reddit user (I think he’s from France) remembers much less, but was obviously looking for the same thing:

Apparently, this movie was simply sucked into that mysterious black hole of total oblivion that has already swallowed up a lot of other movies. But there’s no harm in trying
Thanks in advance
