I think it’s the Twilight Zone episode “Kick the Can.” It’s almost exactly what you described, with two old men reverting to childhood at nighttime and playing together.

Or it could be Spielberg’s segment from Twilight Zone: The Movie? There are a lot more characters, but it’s based on that episode of the show and has the same premise. The segment starts about 25 minutes into this video (sorry I couldn’t find one without subs.)

Thanks for replying, but that’s not it. I am familiar with the twilight zones you are referring to and my description fits them perfectly.
The short I’m trying to describe is a low budget Indy film that sundance would play from time to time in the mid 90’s. There were only two elderly men and they would play at the park.
