I remember watching a movie (or maybe a show) where people had been buried in limestone (maybe?) and because of that they couldn’t die and were trapped and still alive.

I remember they used ground penetrating radar that showed people buried in these tombs and were still moving around.  Some were buried in foundations of buildings in a city.

For some reason I feel like this was around the time of “Powder”.
