I have a vague memory of a movie most likely in the ’70s. Maybe set in the late 1800s or early to mid 1900s. The antagonist is handcuffed and on his way to be tried or incarcerated. I think he was in a train when for some reason it leaves the tracks and goes in to a body of water. Rather than drown he cuts his hand off. I think the rest of the movie centers on his gaining revenge. That’s all I can remember. Initially I thought Tony Curtis or Tony Randall but after looking at imdb I couldn’t find an answer.

Yes, it’s Chamber of Horrors, but the train doesn’t go into the water, the man does. He then hacks off his hand to get out of the handcuffs.
