Hi,

I was wondering if you could identify an anime movie I watched once at least ten years ago. I remember practically none of the plot, just some scenes and the look of some of the characters. I watched it in french, it was a DVD I think, and it was in color. It must not have been TOO violent and gory because it was shown to us kids during summer camp (but then again, they let us watch Cowboy Bebop, so idk).

It is in a futuristic environment with several scenes happening in a building in the middle of a desert (I think in the entire movie  you only see greenery once, thanks to a little potted plant) where some of the protagonists live : the male main character, his buddies (there were some motorcycles involved I believe, and I don’t think the lot was entirely law-friendly, but they were sympathetic characters). There’s also a little boy and a delicate looking little girl. This group are sorta rebels, I think. The other protagonists must live in the city with the tall futuristic buildings. There’s a rather square-looking guy, and the main female character amongst them. I remember the woman having very short red hair and perhaps some  tatoo-like  markings in the middle of her chin (my kid’s mind thought for a while she had a beard). She and the square-looking guy must belong to some sort of police force, because I remember they and others attacked the building in the desert. Four scenes I remember clearly are : one, the two kids hiding hiding in some sort of big dark freezing room, and the boy leaves to check outside, and leaves his coat/ blanket over the shivering little girl. But it is the woman, later, who checks on the room and finds the girl  and probably saves her from freezing. Later, you see the two main male protagonist having their showdown, the square-looking one has the other down and they exchange some words. The other one spits something like “you don’t want [the woman, Jate/kate?] to know ?” and the answer is indeed he doesn’t. except that just at this moment, the woman comes and the scene is frozen and I have no idea how it ends (except that none of the men die here).

At one point, the “rebel” group mourns someone. They pay  their respect to a grave in the desert.

The movie ends with a very bizarre scene of the main male protagonist lying together with the girl on a metal platform with a glass cover (a bit like they’re being encased in a glass coffin) and outside, floating in the air (I know, strange. perhaps the gravity was messed up!), is the other man. He and the woman put their hand on each side of the glass, and he floats slowly up while the platform where the other two are encased (protected ?) goes just as slowly down.
There it is. I don’t remember much and I know it is pretty confusing, but if you could help alleviate my frustration and help finding this movie that has haunted me for a long time, I would be very grateful.
