I saw this very strange movie in the theaters when I was a kid. I was born in 1990 so it must have been released in the mid to late 1990s. It was in color and was about these kids who were imprisoned in an underground factory maybe shoveling coal? They were enslaved and held captive doing some odd job. The protagonist was a kid who somehow found all these other kids and was forced into this pointless pursuit. I vaguely remember something about tomatoes and candy bars as having something to do with the plot. It was a very surreal and quirky movie. Any ideas?
I’m not sure this is it because you left out the most memorable parts, but some of this sounds like The Peanut Butter Solution. At the very end schoolchildren are imprisoned making paintbrushes.
I looked into it and though that movie seems equally as frightening I don’t think that’s the movie I’m remembering. I read the plot on wiki and none of it rang a bell. Apparently that movie was banned from Disney channel because it was too frightening for kids though.
In the movie did the kids eat sludge that made their voices really deep?
That sounds vaguely familiar. Do you remember what that movie is from?
It’s called Jacob Twotwo meets the hooded fang.
Yes, finally, I’m pretty sure that’s it
Yeah! That’s it!! Thank you!!!
