movie made between 2003 and 2008 i think. About a kid whose father was really smart and predicted that his small town was going to receive some major seismic activity but no one in the town believed him and he dies with everyone thinking he is nuts. His son ( who looks like a younger version of Rami Malek but with curly , blond/brownish hair) runs for mayor several years after his father died to try and prove his father’s research. The kids hobby is making movies. One character in his homemade movies is called “Smashy”- with one segment is his movies called “Smashy goes to Paris” . The movie end with him losing the election but being able to prove his fathers research correct somehow. It might be a Canadian movie but im not sure entirely. Thanks !!
