when i was a kid, probably in the early 1980’s, i was channel surfing cable when i stumbled across a horrible scene that has stuck with me all of my life.  it might have been an HBO movie.  it was in color, english i think, though i don’t remember any dialogue.

a woman was running away from a man through the woods.  this scene kept cutting back and forth to a dog, german shepherd i think, going bananas behind a fence, growling and barking.  the man eventually catches the woman and attacks her against a tree.  i remember the dog breaking loose and saving her.  this film traumatized me and i would love to find out what the heck it was.
