Ok, I posted this once, but was not registered, so I’m not sure it went through.

There was a movie from the last 10 to 20 years about a strange town that banned all playing of music and singing. It begins with a teenage boy listening to  music and his mother kills him. This is supposedly to keep some horrible monster/beast from destroying the town and goes way back in the town’s history.

A new person, guy I think, arrives and thinks this is all so crazy and convinces the modern townspeople that there is no truth to this “age 0ld tale of some mythical monster” and the people begin to relax and start to sing and play music that they have never heard or done their whole lives. It ends with the monster coming to destroy them, so their old “myth” was true.
