Happily ever after and dead

When I was a kid, I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to watch tv.  this was back in the 70s.  I’ve tried off and on over the years to find the movie but with no luck.

All I saw was the ending and judging from the movie style, I’d say it was from the 30s.  The scene is set with an elderly woman lying in bed.  She’s dying and her granddaughter is sitting by the bed, keeping watch over her.  The elderly woman is the star of the movie. She had basically told her granddaughter a story about her husband.  she went on to say it was her time to join her husband. “It was a hard life but it was also a good life.   I’m ready to go now. It’s time to be with him again.”   if I could remember character names, that would help. but I can’t.  Anyways, the grand daughter, sobs and tells her not to go.  but the grandma gives a sigh, closes her eyes and passes away.   The camera pulls out to show the granddaughter laying over her grandmother, crying.  The camera goes to the window and show a snowy scene outside.  Snow is all over the ground.  In the snow, you can see foot prints appear and walk off to a top of a hill.  At the top of the hill is the grandfather.  The grandmother, now young and beautiful hugs and kisses her husband and the credits roll.

And that’s it.  It made a huge impression on me.  I’m guessing I was only like 5 or 6. I cried when the credits were rolling.  I just wish I knew what it was so thought I’d take a chance and see if anybody knows.
