I watched this movie in my film class a couple years ago. The movie was in black and white and I believe it was from the 60s maybe earlier. They spoke French in the film and a scene we watched had a couple arguing. At one point they stopped speaking and they started arguing using titles of books on the bookshelf in their bedroom.
Anyone ideas on this one?

“And then, of course, there’s the angry fight conducted entirely via book titles—an idea so original that, in fairness, it’s hard to imagine how anyone could be inspired by it without just ripping it off.”
That’s it. Thank you!!
