My dad saw this movie on ‘The Late Show’ in the late 60’s to early 70’s and told me about it. I’ve been searching for it for many years. The pardon turns out to be stashed in FDRs personal safe, marked with a strange symbol in the corner. The VP is saved from execution in the nick of time.
Thanks for spoiling the movie for anyone else who may have wanted to watch it. Jeez.
Sometimes ‘spoilers’ can be useful information to find a movie for someone. If you want movie recommendations with ‘spoiler’ warnings, I would try a different site.
A “spoiler warning” is just common courtesy on ANY website.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spoiler warning on this site.

I see the problem, but I’m not sure spoiler warnings are practical here. Many of people’s incomplete memories are by their nature going to be spoilers.
They are spoilers to movies that don’t have a title unless someone answers it. Don’t read the replies.
“This Is My Affair” IS THE ONE!
Thank you very much sandnc. I watched the movie last night and it was great to be able to imagine my dad watching it with me. I can see why he liked it.
Sorry about the spoiler. I never considered that aspect of it. I thought of this being more of a research type site. If it’s of any consolation, the elements I provided weren’t very accurate, and even I was held until the end.
You’re very welcome! Glad I was able to help. Don’t feel bad about the spoiler, I think most of us would consider this a research type site!
Solved!
