Ok so I was really young when I saw this movie (so this may not all be correct or in the right order), I believe it was June/July 1999-2001. I was on vacation in Kentucky and decided to stay up and watch some tv and this movie came on, it had me so creeped out I couldn’t even move to change the channel. It may have been on adult swim, and I think it was probably japanese anime (it was definitely animated). It was in english and in color.

I remember the main character was a young boy  whose mother had died (he may have been investigating her death but I’m not sure). At some point he meets a woman who seems to take a liking to him. I believe the two begin traveling together and (i think) at some point they come across an item that the woman believes belonged to the boys mother. There is also a part where the two hold hands and the woman comments how soft the boys skin is. Later in the movie the woman takes the boy to a planet (or maybe a country) that is named after her and reveals that she killed his mother and took her skin (so she could remain young and beautiful) and now she wants his.
