Greetings all!

I am trying to find the name of this movie that I originally saw an ad for as a kid. I looked it up within the last year and found it, only to forget and its now bugging me to death!

It is about this group of kids that go onto the set of this country/western themed tv show where they use these strange puppet like animals. The kids take them home and it turns out the puppets are actual, living creatures. They are magical creatures or aliens. The tv show hosts had been exploiting the creatures for their show.

I can’t for the life of me remember the name of this movie. Any ideas?
