I saw it on tv at end of the 60s or start of the 70s, at least twice ( I was 4 or 5 years old then) and remember seeing both times the ending only. It was in English. The setting, from memory seems very 1940s maybe even 30s. Pretty sure it was part of a movie, not a tv episode. I have no titles or actors to suggest. (Would have been easy with IMDB). So the ending I remember: Two children who are orphans and apparently homeless because they are living day to day on the streets, charity or stealing here and there, afraid of being discovered by adults or authorities, finally get caught stealing something in a store (candies?) try to escape to the front door, manage to get to the street but an adult is running after them (security? store manager? clerk?). The orphans try to cross this major street, its night in heavy traffic rush, but get both? hit by a car. End up in hospital, one his in a cast crying being and comforted by a lady and a man, husband and wife (adopting couple?, relatives?) .The other orphan, brother or sister orphan, might be dead, never remembered that point.Movies in those days tended to be uplifting so doubtful one of the child is dead but can’t remember. And movie ends on that redemption from the homeless child (ren) about to go to the caring couple.
