Saw this as a kid in the 90’s, could be TV, TV movie, or something my mom rented: English, color, and could be anywhere from late 70’s to 90’s.

Group of young adults (college kids maybe?) and a stuffy, tweed-and-patches professor type, are looking for a legendary sword. Don’t remember too much except the ending, where some antagonists run the professor off a country road on his bicycle, and found by a couple of worried nuns, who presumably help him. At the end of the movie they congratulate the lead male kid on finding the sword, with the professor looking on in a wheelchair.
