70s Doctor Who nudity?

I remember an episode that I have always associated with Doctor Who but I would tend to think not since I don’t believe that DW has ever had nudity. Its a color scene with English actors on a swampy planet inside an industrial facility that looks and it lit very similar to late 70s BBC Doctor Who scene design. I woman has been taken over or assimilated with something mechanical. She is topless from waist up but the bottom half looks very similar to a DW Dalek. She is either dead or in a zombie state and there is a man (or man and woman) that are with her but then escape out into the swampy planet surface. I would have seen this on late 70s or early 80s PBS. I remember thinking (and have always felt) the nudity seemed like an odd throw-in to an episode/movie that was otherwise a pretty straight forward sci-fi and contained no other scenes of that maturity. Though today I don’t really remember much else about it.

  1. “Blake’s 7” (1978-1981 TV series)?

It’s British and it aired at the right time and it was created by Terry Nation, who created the Daleks. I think almost all, if not all, of the episodes are up on YouTube, but I can’t find the one you’re remembering, so maybe it’s something else?

  2. I’ll take some time and look through some episodes. I could very well be combining two different things in one memory. Blake’s 7 seems to straight forward to be what I’m thinking. It feels wrong to come back to it and I’m not one to dwell on the nudity aspect but that’s what stands out to me. It may have been something different because there’s an almost 70’s sexploitation…maybe…’cruelty?’ to how the female character is handled (angry villain laughing and ripping at space age bodysuit). But the rest is standard British ‘run around from the aliens and then chat in front of the blinky boop-beep machines’ stuff.

    1. There’s nothing wrong with seeking this one out, it’s the most intriguing post I’ve seen on here in years! I think there was some nudity on television in the 70s, but it was very rare.

      1. Well I’m glad my weird teenage memories have created something interesting to chew on. You’ve helped out in the past so keep it in the back of your mind.
