I can remember this movie I watched in the late 90’s or very maybe the early 2000’s (im almost certain it came out sometime during the 90’s though) that was in English, on TV, and in color and all live action.

What I can mainly remember is its about a Father and his little girl and he tells her fairy stories a lot, and one day he catches something (maybe he thinks its a lightning bug?) in a jar, but its a fairy! Something happens and the fairy becomes human sized? Its like the movie Splash in a way and follows the line of “magical girl is naive and doesn’t know what to do but man falls in love with her because of it”. I think theres a part where the dad almost misses or does miss something his daughter is doing in school because of fairy shenanigans.

And I vaguely remember there being a conflict near the end about other faries and her needing to go back.
