I rented this movie in the late 80’s. It was a recently made move about a dark relationship between two people. All I can remember is the surprise ending when the woman revealed she was a man. THe scene was unexpected at the end when she (he) showed his genitals.

The Crying Game would be the obvious guess.
Yep without a doubt. I was gonna say “Crying Game” never watched it but that’s what popped in my head. I believe same chic/guy is on ‘Stargate’. Good movie.
I actually got to see The Crying Game before the spoilers got out. Great movie.
