POV shot

I posted this on the TOMT reddit sub, but no luck. I was googling around an found this site so fingers crossed someone here can help me.

I’ve been thinking about this for about 20 years.

Some time in the late 90’s (I believe it was about 98 or 99 – the very latest it would be is 2002) I was flipping through channels late at night while I was babysitting. I stopped at a scene from what I figured was a movie but could have been a show. It was a pov shot going up stairs, down a hallway, and into a bedroom where a woman was in bed. I believe she was sleeping, though she might have been reading or something. She sees whatever is standing/floating over her and screams. Then one of the kids I was babysitting woke up and came to the living room and I quickly changed the channel. I didn’t know what channel it had been on so I couldn’t find it when I tried to go back.

Here are the little details I remember:

  1. The film was in color

  2. I *think* it was set in another time period just by the way the house looked – maybe early 20th century? I could be wrong about that though.

  3. It was a pretty grand house from what I remember – more likely a mansion or something. I think there was red carpet on the steps. Maybe it was even a nice hotel?

  4. I always got the feeling it was the pov of a ghost, but it very likely could have been a person. I feel like once it got to the woman in bed it the shot was kind of floating over her and I think that’s what gave me the ghost vibe.

  5. All I heard was the scream so I can’t say for sure it was English language, but it likely was because it would have been on US cable.

  1. Oh! I forgot to mention that someone on Reddit suggested Sightings: Heartland Ghost (2002) but that wasn’t it.

    1. It’s definitely not that – that scene is shot through a mask, and Michael’s sister is awake.
This woman is definitely in bed and the image is clear – no distortion, and no eye holes or anything like that.

Thank you for the suggestion though 🙂

  2. I’ve seen your post here before and thought about it when watching this movie, it reminded me of this scene. It has a similar scene and I may have suggested this before but I can’t remember. Lol so here’s my guess anyways. From 1999, The Haunting:

      1. Omg! This has to be the same movie! I’m not crazy! Also pretty strange that someone else saw the same exact part as me…even weirder that one of the suggestions was The Unseen and that’s another movie I was recently looking for and found through reddit. This is going to drive me crazy. I wonder if that other person ever found it.

        1. Wow this is freaky, lol. Yes I was sure it was The Unseen. That was also a childhood movie I had been looking but forgot till I started looking up old movies to help people find their lost forgotten movies. Also one I been looking for was: The Boogens. Very satisfying to finally watch old memory movies.

    1. I’ll try to watch this tonight and will get back to you. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the suggestion.

    2. So I was finally able to watch 1999 version of The Haunting, and that’s not it either. I asked RobinSparkles, and she never found the movie either 🙁
