I saw this years ago, made in the 1940s or 1950s. I believe it might be one of the bigger name Italian directors, but cannot remember as it has probably been 30 years since I saw it. Brief plot outline: There is an old man, either father or uncle, who is unwanted by his family/children, I believe in Sicily. He is shunted from one relative to the next, in a donkey cart or hand cart, often left out in the rain as the younger ones squabble about taking him in. It is NOT Umberto D.
