Protagonist goes in search of distant relatives in China.
There is a scene in which a family is sitting around a table and the patriarch is about to give a toast. He barely gets five words out before the matriarch yells “Bonsai!” and does a shot. He continues on with his toast until a few seconds later, “Bonsai!” Grandma does another shot. This goes on three or four times before Grandpa finally grabs the bottle from her and finishes his toast in a very hurried voice, then yells “bonsai” himself before drinking his shot.
Kung foo movie, not in english.
That scene is from “Around the World in 80 Days” (2004).
I concur. The grandmother…I believe she keeps saying “kumpai” and the grandfather is trying to do his speech. He ends up saying it really fast, and then says “kumpai.”
