So basically there are two families, living on the same street (I think they were one on the opposite side of the other). Typical wooden American houses I guess. One of the two gardens is very clean (maybe they grow vegetables as well?). In one of the two houses is living a boy/kid (with the parents), in the other one a little girl or another little boy (also with the parents). I don’t remember about brothers or sisters.

Those were two different families (although they lived on the same street). At some point one family invites the other over for dinner. Harsh feelings during the dinner. After that dinner I think the kids were not supposed to meet anymore, they were not allowed (I think one of the two was kind of like sneaking out to meet the other one). Among all the stuff that happens in the movie, also death can be part of it….some killer or some kind of death plot, don’t remember.

I think the parents that had the very good garden / vegetable were a bit crazy (religion? education? human contacts?).

The movie is for sure not old and is in colour. It’s not carrie but that is the kind of ‘repression’ of one of the two families I can remember.
