Ok so I don’t have a lot to go on here, but had a memory of a movie scene last night (at least I am pretty sure it was a movie and not a tv episode of some sort).

At dinner a kid is served something with peas in it (i remember thinking it was white rice with peas). He refuses to eat it and his father makes him stay at the table until he eats it. Later that night the kid sneaks out of the house, climbs a huge tree in the yard. The rest of the film is this kid living and surviving in this tree for (i think) a whole summer.
I am sure this is not that weird living in trees episode of Malcolm in the Middle, so that isn’t it.
could it have been My Side of the Mountain?
No. The kid is living in a tree in the yard. There is this whole scene where the mother or brother comes out and throws up a sandwich to the kid in the tree.
