this is a 1940″s era story about a Trumpet/Cornet player who gives up his music career and travel to instead work in a factory to stay home and take care of his daughter after he becomes widowed. One scene I remember that is profound is him throwing his cornet off a bridge into the water when he gave up his music. His daughter compels him to go back to leading a band and playing the cornet again when she becomes a teenager. I remember it being in black and white. I saw it on tv maybe on Tmc
