Third and so far last of many scattered childhood memories I’m trying to figure out. Saved this one for last since it’s by far the most vague.
This was seen on TV in the latter half of the 80s. I don’t know if it was a movie, an episode of a show, an anthology type thing, or what.
As I remember it, a guy has a birthday, or some big similar event worthy of being thrown a party. He goes through many a hijinx, for whatever reason, and at the very end of the film/episode, he opens the door to find a big party – likely in his honor – and faints (or possibly drops dead – I was too young to really know what fainting was, or know the difference). Roll credits.
I realize this isn’t much to go on, but every attempt at tracking down anything related to birthdays from the 80s has so far failed me. Any clues would be helpful. Thanks.
not an exact match but I must give at least an honorable mention to “What About Bob?”

Ah, the good honorable Frank Oz. I’m pretty sure I watched this earlier than 1991, or I believe my memories of it would’ve been clearer. Still a film worth watching though, so thanks for the suggestion!
