I saw this in the 70s (75 maybe) at a drive in. Don’t remember much, but the hero figures out how to kill the monsters, which looked like floating snakes/sperm made out of light (I believe the effect was achieved by scratching the film, super low budget). Anyway the hero fashions some sort of rifle with a scope, perhaps shining a light on them to kill them, not sure, I was 5 or 6 when I saw it.
The Flesh Eaters?
the monster FX are just as you describe – primitive yet effective. Quite gruesome for 1964.
Just checked it out out, no, not the flesh eaters. This movie was color, and probably came out in 73-74. But wow, the Flesh Eaters looks interesting!
The hero tries eloctrocuting the buggers, but they form into one giant monster. The hero then jumps on top of the monster and injects it with human blood and then it explodes in a brief color sequence. This was one of my favorite late night television discoveries. Yes, very gory, and the uncut DVD from Dark Sky has some brief nudity as well.
I should clarify, the monsters float through the air, with sperm like motion. The are just (green?) squiggles of light.
“Doc Savage, Man of Bronze”(1975)?
It had a scene with green glowing things in the air, I think it was called the green death.
Here is the trailer. You can see the green sperm thing at about 35 seconds in.
