i was looking for a movie from the late 60‘s or 70‘s.

i don’t know a whole lot about the movie,  i was about 5 years old and it felt very creepy. the main detail that has stuck with me all these years is the ending which had a young child walking down a large staircase slowly holding on to the heavy wooden bannister and stepping on each step carefully when out of nowhere the child is pushed from behind. we don’t see who did it just the shocked child’s terrified face and then they freeze frame on it and cue really haunting music.

at the time i was about the same age as the child and lived in a house built in the 1890’s that had a heavy wooden ornate staircase. i was alone when i saw it on regular tv back when we had maybe 10 channels. needless to say it scared the pants off me and i always had that fear walking down the stairs that it might happen to me. i remember being confused why someone would want to push the child. very haunting memory that has stuck with me.

back in the mid 80’s in canada. every saturday night around 5pm they would play either colombo, mcmillan & wife, or mccloud alternating each week, then starting at 7pm they would play a creepy film. i watched every saturday for years hoping this movie would show up it never did.
