Movie watched on cable early 90s, likely a late 80s movie.

Teenage blond girl lost/separated in middle eastern (or India?) country.  Being chased for some reason.  Local handsome teen boy helps keep her safe and they become close throughout the movie.  She goes home at the end to seemingly never see the boy again.
