I saw a tv movie back in the late 1980’s, possibly early 1990’s.  It was about Ebenezer Scrooge in the future. He had become too giving, and everyone was taking advantage of him. He was visited again by spirits, who taught him that he needed to be giving within reason, so as to maintain the respect of those around him.
