Thriller movie

A guy shows up to a house  they invite him in for dinner,  I think he says he’s an author

Daughter starts dating guy, guy is also texting mom and i think sleeps with her, they tell the daughter not to see him.  She plans to run away with him but he blows her off, she gets mad

Parents go out and daughter is home alone, guy breaks in parents rush home and ends with them killing the guy with like a trophy or hockey stick or something… please help!

I THINK it was on hulu within the last yr, it’s in English  and I’m pretty sure the twist about the author was he was writing about the husband family secret or something.. it’s driving me insane
