black and white modern weird movie

I’m recycling an old 2013 post of mine, if that’s okay with the admins. At the times, there were significantly fewer skilled researchers… 🙂

“That’s a little tricky, considering i never saw the movie (just a trailer in an arthouse cinema), but it intrigued me.

it’s black and white, but not an old movie (i’m guessing somewhere between 1990-2005, but maybe older). the scene i recall in the trailer involves a large man (of John Goodman-like stature) in a suit, walking on the street. I think he is blind (he has sun-glasses and a walking stick). Papers fly all around him. By the trailer alone, it looked like a quite odd movie.

That’s not much, i know. but thank you anyway…”

silent short. Neighbors fighting over a rose

I saw this silent movie recently at a small festival. By the looks of it, it’s an old-timey silent comedy short, a la Buster Keaton, but maybe with a more surrealist vibe. It might actually be way more recent than the Buster Keaton era.

A beautiful rose grows right under a white fence separating two gardens and the two neighbors claim the right to pick it. They start fighting and wreaking havoc, completely destroying the fence. By the end, they’re both dead, and the white pickets of the fence come to life (stop-motion) and surround the two bodies, creating a small cemetery. The rose divides in two and adorns both graves.
