I think this may be from one of those Disney movies in the 1970’s along the line of The Absent Minded Professor. All I can really remember is that someone had a sword hung over the front door and that whenever someone shut the door, the sword would fall down with a loud clang.

The exact scene I remember is that several people were upstairs in a study and someone came in the door and they heard the sword fall. Somehow this sword falling was important in the film.
