I watched a movie sometime between 2006-2010. It was new at the time. It was indie, so not a theatrical release. The movie starts with a young teen girl getting out of a psychiatric hospital for attempting to kill the local weatherman (or newsman) because she thought he was an evil alien and was charged with killing him by a good alien. Her mom makes her cookies and she rides around town getting information and using the cookies as currency. The end of the movie we learn that there was an alien that was giving her the charge of protecting people from the weatherman and that he is indeed an evil alien. I’m losing my mind over this. I feel like it was maybe an Australian indie, but I don’t remember them having accents.
