Okay, I’ve been trying to figure out the name of this movie and its been bugging me for literal years. I’m not sure about when it was made, but it was in color and I think I saw it on television in the 90s- early 2000s. Here is what I remember:

An actress returns home after being diagnosed with cancer. She had left when she was a teenager I believe and it was her first time back. When she lived there before, she had a best friend who was a native american boy, and she had the typical popular boyfriend. After coming back home, the native american guy from her past starts coming around, he helps take care of her and so on. During the course of the movie, it seems like she’s developing feelings for her old best friend.

At some point, she discovers that her native american best friend was murdered when they were younger and it was her boyfriend and his friends who had murdered him. He had been dead the entire time she was seeing him.

I don’t remember the ending. I only remember something about jigsaw puzzles as a possible minor theme, she spoke with the native american guy’s father at some point in the movie, and I believe the body wasn’t discovered until it was just skeletal remains. That may not be much to go on and it may play a large part in why I can’t figure it out.
