Looking for a 90s TV adventure series or mini series. Most likely English language. I remember only 2 scenes:

1. Young man gets knocked out by a loose piece of rigging on a tall ship moored in a bay. He seems to have sneaked on there when nobody was onboard. It is a very sunny bay, somewhere tropical, golden beaches and palm trees. The setting is potentially 19th century rather than modern.
2. The same man, during a confrontation with a group of natives from the tropical island, gets shot with a spear in the chest. Quite an unexpected and rather graphic scene in a seemingly family oriented movie. He does survive and all’s well in the end.

I cannot work out if this was a (mini) series set entirely on that tropical island or whether it was an episode of something else…It is NOT: Treasure Island, Return to Treasure Island, The Swiss Family Robinson.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. It’s been bugging me for years now!
