I watched this movie when I was very young. In 1993 or 1994. It could be from the late 80’s or early 90’s. It is a horror movie, maybe horror/comedy. It was in color. The majority of the movie took place at night. I want to say that the main characters are teenagers. The scene I remember the most is the teenagers are outside when monsters start appearing. The monsters look like ghouls, and the only one I can really remember is on a skateboard and had a baseball bat. I want to say that some of the teenagers know about the monsters because I remember that the monsters were being described as they appeared, unless the movie had narration. That’s really all I can remember. I am driving myself crazy trying to remember the title because I want to watch it.

No, definitely not the Gremlins. The monsters are humanoid.
Neon Maniacs(1987)?

I just finished watching Neon Maniacs. It is very similar, but not the same movie. The monsters in both movies are all different and only come out at night. The skateboarding monster that I remember is not in Neon Maniacs.
