This has plagued me for years so hoping someone remembers this movie..

The scene I remember is this: A colour, stop motion scene in what may or may not have been 100% stop motion. In the scene a man is sent to collect a special apple from a faraway tree. He is sent because he is super speedy. He is dressed in armor or silver plates of some sort and he runs more like he is skating. I think he is going to retrieve this as part of a number of things that a group need to do to save a princess or something?

I saw this film many years ago.. probably late 80s
