I vaguely remember a movie that involves women/girls being kidnapped it shows scenes of one of the girls escaping from a small shack in the woods and running. I don’t remember if she lives or not. But somehow another woman who knows a retired writer(?) or detective asks him to come to this small town to search for a kidnapped young girl. They eventually realize that the shack isn’t far from town or something and race to the location, rescuing the little girl. A chase scene occurs in which they run through the woods. I remember the little girl doesn’t trust her savior but they end up on the side of a river/creek and eventually the bad guy gets killed.
This is driving me crazy! I think it was probably a VHS rental, I’m fairly certain it was late 90s when I saw it. All in English. The movie location is a very green woodsy area like maybe Maine or Alaska or something. I suppose it’s possible I’m mixing movies together, but I just don’t think so!
That sounds a bit like “Kiss the Girls.” there are multiple kidnappings, one woman escapes, there’s a river, there’s a detective (Morgan Freeman) who comes to the area to help figure it out. I don’t remember a little girl–I think all the victims were at least high school age–but I haven’t seen it in so long there might have been.

Thanks for the replies. I haven’t watched Along Came a Spider yet but Kiss the Girls was similar but not what I was looking for. Hoping I didn’t just mix them up in my head! Lol.
