I am trying to find the name of a movie about a young girl who befriends a woman who lives int he woods(she has a home but she is older, I believe she is black but I am not positive and I think the time period is set in the 1950s?). The girls(her and her older sister) mother is an alcoholic and beats the girls which is the reason the young girls runs to the woods to begin with. The older woman teaches the girls that their mother is sick and that she doesn’t really mean to hurt them. I do remember the end is something about the girls being at the older woman’s house because their mother has just beat them really badly, when their mother shows up drunk and yelling at them to get into the car however the older woman tells her that she is not taking the girls. The mother ends up leaving the girls with the older lady.
