ok, so i believe this movie was early 90’s. the main plot is people are forced into virtual reality machines, where they’re trying to kill each other. guns, and other weapons. but they’re also able to use ‘stimpacks’ they pick up in the vr, which increases speed, strength etc. then its found out that when you die in the game, the machines kill you, or something. and then the  stimpacks are also in the real world when the protagonist is trying to get away. oh the stimpacks are attached to their arms, kinda bandolier style. and they can just push one down, to inject themselves.
