I remember seeing this film on Netflix in 2010ish it was a gritty movie were this guy escapes from a mental hospital <he thinks hes escaping from the government> to kill someone he blames for the death of someone he loves? anyway the movie switches between reality and what he thinks is happening. His reality is gritty and controlled by factions or religions. I think he sees himself ask a masked superhero type, I remember a scene where he walks into some place and talks about the hairdresser religion. After he breaks out he meets up with an old friend who calls the hospital out of concern but the guy sees it as his friend being cowardly and that he betrayed him to the “bad guys”. He later finds the friend and beats him for information in a old building. I remember the end were he breaks into a womans house so he can use the window to shoot his target in the restaur ant across the street as he is talking to her (the woman he has tied up) he starts to realize she is like him not ruled by a religion/faction? I want to say his alternate reality is watchmen style?  This has been driving me nuts if anyone has a clue I appreciate it…..
