I remember a movie from the 70s…I want to say mid to late 70s. It “starred” a bunch of guys (maybe 4 or 5 fellows) who were a rock band (disco?). I want to say some of it was almost like the old Abbot and Costello meet <insert ‘monster’ here> movies. I remember one of the guys was more of a scaredy cat and at one point they were singing something like “Get your ticket, get your ticket, you gotta have a ticket for the train ride” dressed as conductors. I *think* the band had a one word name that had something to do with gemstones.
Maybe: Train Ride to Hollywood (1975) – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078412/
From a review of the movie – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078412/reviews
“Oddly enough, I remember seeing this movie back when it first came out. Maybe the fact I was young in age made it more memorable for me *shrug*. I liked it…to this day I find myself humming “get your ticket, get your ticket, ya gotta have your ticket for the train ride”.”
OMG ! Thank you! This is indeed the movie I was thinking of!! That was solved much faster than I had hoped!!
If they get solved it usually happens quickly, The longer it takes, the less likely you’ll get an answer. Thanks Cotopaxi!
Pretty good memory there, LadyDor! You are very welcome!
Thanks – lols, my memory is very selective about when/what it let’s me recall most times (hehe – getting older does that I guess *sigh*.
It’s funny though – I clearly recall watching this movie on HBO on a spring/summer day and then going over to a friends house and telling them to watch it when they could; then we spent the next few days singing “Get your ticket” as well ;-).
This was one of 4 movies that stick out in my mind for some reason (and 1 of 3 I had some trouble recalling the name of – the other 2 I figured out in time, only this one eluded me). For those of you wondering – the 3 other movies are/were “Phantasm” (recalled it only after the sequel previews started showing in theatres), “Salt and Pepper” (did a search on Sammy Davis and Peter Lawford to get the name of it – one of the first things I did in the 90s when I got a computer and internet =0 ), and the other is probably my most favorite movie ever (I’ve watched it well over 30 times – and wish I could find it for sale to own) “Swashbuckler”.
I know I’ll think (or should I say not be able to think) of other movies I wish to track down again; I *will* be back here! I also hope to maybe help others identify their desired movies as well.
Thanks again Cotopaxi – I hope I can return the favor some day!!
