I remember a movie, thought Hilary Swank was in it but doesn’t show on her list of movies. Anyway, it was set in 1700’s?? about a family on a remote island, something about the daughter being a little “off”, and the daughter-in-law comes to visit. The family knows this daughter is a little “off” and tries to keep her and the new DIL separate. I think there was a murder? illicit sex between the daughter and her brother? Might have been an independent film. Can’t find it under my search terms. Thanks!
Parts of this remind me of The Ballad of Jack and Rose, but a lot of the details are off, like it’s not set in the 1700’s, and there isn’t a daughter in law, but the dad’s new girlfriend. It’s probably not it, but I figured since you haven’t gotten any responses yet I’d just suggest it.
