Early in the movie, or before the start (and flashbacked to) this girl’s parents die when rehearsing their circus act (which is one with the ribbons, or Aerial silks) she blames herself, cause of angst. She meets a magical guy, possibly there’s romance, but he’s being persued by evil magic people/monsters. Someone ends up getting turned to stone, probably the guy. Theres a magic forest near where she lives, which is a big part of the magic, maybe the guy is from it? Theres a middle aged teacher/aunt woman who the girl knows, who at some point turns out to actually be magical.

I saw it in the early 2000’s, but it may have been from the 90’s. We probably got it out from the video store. It was in english.

I remember the cover had a lot of green on it.
