TV show in the 80s (probably, maybe late 70s) in a sort of Fantasy Island style. Different people or couples who compete for or get a wish or prize or something. I think set in the tropics, and I think the title could’ve been “_ Paradise” where the blank was the location. What I specifically remember is that at the beginning of each episode a guy with a Jamaican accent sings “Who will be de one?” in the ascending 4th-8th notes of a major scale. Been not quite at the tip of my memory-tongue for days! Thank you, anyone of a certain age with a better memory.

From the reviews: “Horrible man kept singing ‘who will be the one?’ in a latino style.”

Thank you all. Well done! I must have formed a hybrid memory of a TV show (AP) and that “Who will be de one?” line (MOLI). What an amazing community I just found! My itch has been scratched. Maybe I can pay it forward one day.
Well, it -was- a (failed) pilot for a TV show, so pretty good memory of it!
Ah, the rare double solve! Thanks Will and Coto.
